Industry

  • ITS is where Interactive Touch and Surface Industry and Academia Come Together

This year we would like to extend a special invitation to industry and those researchers with a more practical application focus to be part of the experience.

There are seven fantastic ways for academia and industry leaders to participate:

    1 Give a lightning talk

Want to present to the world what your company has developed? We’ll give you some minutes. The presentation will be done in the form of Pecha Kucha style presentations during the conference program (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pecha_kucha). In contrast to traditional slide presentations, the number of slides is restricted and transitions between slides occur automatically every 20 seconds. This keeps presentations concise and fast-paced. Pecha Kucha slides usually contain pictures rather than a lot of text. Make every second count.

Lightning talk proposals should be submitted through our online system (https://precisionconference.com/~sigchi/) in the form of:

    • a 1-2 page extended abstract that will be published on our website
    • and, if you want a video, showing your technology of up to 3 minutes length, that will be also published on the website.

Please submit your PDF and video documents through the conference submission system by August 1, 2013. Notifications will be given by August 16.

    2 Submit a Paper

Whether you are a researcher, or an industry leader, you can submit a research paper that has value due to its application to the real world. We invite you to submit to the paper track. Papers submitted to this venue will undergo peer review by other applied and industry researchers from the research community. The paper will appear in the proceedings and will be archived in the ACM Digital Library. More information can be found on http://its2013.org/authors/papers-and-notes/. If this is the first time you publish, we can connect you to a seasoned researcher to mentor you through the publishing process. Please send an email to industry@its2013.org.

    3 Setup a demo

Need more time? Want to make a lasting impression? We’ll also have a demo evening, where you will be given a booth to showcase your work. Demos are a great way to show your work in an interactive fashion, and let people experience the technology by themselves. Demos are also a great venue to engage with collaborators, clients, or simply to receive feedback. For more information consult http://its2013.org/authors/#Demos.

    4 Prepare a tutorial/lab or workshop

Many people come to ITS to learn, you might want to share your technology and knowledge. The tutorial/lab section of the conference is focused on instructing the attendees on new techniques, tools and languages related to interactive tabletop and surfaces. This includes your latest API release or tool, your newest hardware or the latest software service. Tutorials can be anything from 1h to a full day, and we encourage interactive, hands-on content. We can arrange computer, multi-touch table, and mobile-device labs for you if you let us know with time! See http://its2013.org/authors/#TutorialsWorkshops, and drop us a line at workshops@its2013.org as soon as possible!

5 Hire the smartest and brightest

Researchers, doctoral candidates, and industry leaders meet at the Interactive Tabletop and Surfaces conference every year. If you are in the lookout for creative, innovative individuals, this is the place to be. If you are interested in recruiting at the conference, drop us a line – and we will accommodate you.

    6 Become a sponsor

We are soliciting support for ITS 2010 conference to permit a greater number of students to attend ITS at reduced fees. Supporting the event is an ideal way to demonstrate your organization’s interest in and commitment to the field and to publicize this support to many leaders and students in the field. For more information on the sponsoring, please contact the chairs at sponsor@its2013.org.

7 Be Part of ITS 2013

The conference will take place in the beautiful campus of the University of St Andrews (Scotland) October 6th-9th 2013. We will be looking forward to meeting you in Scotland in 2013! Sing up to attend at http://its2013.org and keep track of the latest news at @ITS_2013, and http://www.facebook.com/ITSConference2013.
